JOSEPH EDWARD ROBINSON was born on June 2, 1889, in East Liverpool, Ohio. Joseph Robinson married Carrie Jane McKinnon (1890-1943) in Ohio, West Virginia, in 1908 when he was 19 years old. They had one daughter. After he was divorced he married Ruth Jean Norris (1890- 1976). George Schreiner enlisted in the National Army (#1944651) on September 19, 1917 in Cleveland, Ohio, 28 years and 4 months old at that time.
After joining the military he was attached to Co. E of the 331th Infantry, 83rd Division at Camp Sherman, Ohio. Draftees and enlisted men were trained at the camp before leaving for duty overseas. Private Joseph Robinson was promoted to Corporal on October 1, 1917. He went to France with this unit on June 3, 1918. The 331st was designated as a depot division and ordered to the Le Mans area, they trained additional personnel for replacements to combat divisions at the front. Corporal Joseph Robinson was promoted to Sergeant on October 19, 1918 while in France. He stayed with the 331st for the remainder of his time in France and returned to the US with them on Januari 26, 1919. On February 8, 1919 he was honorably discharged.
Joseph E. Robinson past away on June 20, 1947, in Alliance, Stark County, Ohio and is buried at the Grandview Cemetery, Sebring, Ohio.
